Today I caught her by surprise - La Fata
Early morning by the pond, I probably caught her by surprise. She was trying to ignore me. At first, she was not running away or trying to hide.
But I was persistent with my camera and surely annoying, so she started to back up.
In a blink of an eye...dissapeared
Sorry darling, I will not bother you any more. Come back. This is your world.

VIDEO: Correcting reverse taper, radical tree surgery
This tree was practicaly useless with a very nasty inverse taper. We'll try to correct that radically.
This procedure is relatively simple and even much more easy and elegant with thinner trunks. The trunk of this mahaleb is very fat and hard, so more radical tools and actions must be taken.
The result is more than good and, from my point of view, the tree has a good future again.

INTERNATIONAL BONSAI ACADEMY with Walter Pall
Last weekend I've had a two days session with my teacher mr Walter Pall, who came to my place with his assistent Walter.
The plan was to do basic design work on a number of trees that were chosen and ready for that step.
Two days were too short for all that drilling and shaping, even more wiring and so on and on and on...
But the feeling is good after all that work that was waiting to be done.
It is always unforgetable to listen to Walter Pall talking abouit bonsai, designing, philosophy, nature...
He is of enormous help and his philosophy and understanding of principles of nature and tree growing is the basis on which I base my work with bonsai.
Also, many thanks to Walter's assistant Walter for helping us to finish a big task for a short period of time.
I have recorded a ton of videos in FULL HD quality. These have to be edited a bit and will be published on the internet under the project of INTERNATIONAL BONSAI ACADEMY with Walter Pall. I believe those will be very helpful to many people who doesn't have the opportunity to watch and listen to Mr Pall in live mode.
Those videos will be available on my blog, on my you tube channel, on Walter Pall's blog and on the internet forums. There will be many episodes with Walter Pall. I will start publishing the films tomorrow.
Thank you W&W.
See you
Here's what Walter Pall says about last weekend:

Bonsai garden stands
I have a great carpenter and I have told him to make me a few stands of various hights for bonsai of old oak wood. I also told him I want irregular design and natural..old finish.
This is what he brought me. And I am delighted! This is just crazy.
The beams are one hundred years old...from a 19th century house.
All this is intended to be positioned on a concrete floor, like one you see on the photos. Three different hights.
I am sure I will ask him for more.

Transplanting a huge carpinus
How to transplant a huge and heavy tree? This Carpinus even goes with the rock between the roots so it is even heavier. The wooden pot on the first photo measures 95x95cm. Tree grew in it for two years. Now it is time to transplant the tree and the plan is to put it in a slightly smaller box which measures 70x70cm. The tree will stay in this box for 2-3 years while I will be working on ramification and crown architecture...and then, next step will be a bonsai container.
I am using a winch to lift the tree from the pot.
VIDEO OF THIS REPOTTING IS COMING SOON
See me with the tree for sense of scale
Aaaaaand ....we have lift off...
Tree has produced nice roots during past two years...
Let's try to cut it more..
New smaller box, a final step before a bonsai pot
I fix the tree in the pot...or for the pot with long screws. Screws are fixed in all big surface roots...as below
Repotting finished. I am very happy with the reduction of box size with two square meters more space in my garden...second thing that makes me happy is the fact that tree produced lot of roots during last two seasons.
More of this tree....from the beginning...
