Big orientalis season 2009 update

Second year and second stage of deep cutting. Remember this tree? http://sandevbonsai.blogspot.com/2009/02/carpinus-orientalis-yamadori-iii-iv.html
Now it was the time for temporary pot hight reduction and some basic deep cutting of long branches. Basic form is starting to emerge.

The bark that was originaly under the ground surface is maturing. It is becoming cracked and fissured.
I am thinking of further reduction of hight of the tree but...that's it for now. We will see how it works. If you are not sure, it is always better to work in stages than to hurry and be sorry later.

Well, well, well...here we go again :)

S N O W...and lot of it! We have some 60cm...maybe more, up to 70cm in our garden. Winter is really far from over...
The good news are...next week will be less cold, so it will probably melt.
Concerning collecting trees...we are pausing now. This weather is really not so pleasent to work in the garden.

Look at that big mugo "Metuselah"!!! Almost fully covered with snow.

Garden pond! Where???
